In the Aztec language of Nahuátl known as "icpalli" meaning "seat". Mexican families have been crafting this furniture from the time of the Aztecs. Our supplier is a 4th generation crafter from the state of Jalisco. The furniture is handmade from Rosewood, maguey fibers and pigskin. All wood and leather is treated and sealed. All seats are cushioned and Can-cun style chairs and bar stools are also cushioned on the back. These pieces are lightweight and very durable and will be the perfect, unique addition to any Southwest Décor or patio! **Please note, whereas some equipal furniture is finished by spraying the pigskin with dye and using tar to finish the points of contact, our supplier "dip" dyes the pigskin prior to stretching it over the frame and wraps the points of contact with leather strips. Also be aware that pigskin, in itself, has blemishes. Any blemishes only add character to the piece and keep the furniture is rustic in nature - just the look you are going for!
